The Tuesday field.
In addition to The Hare's Corner and its progress towards 'phacelia fest' there is another project going on in the field next door. The Tuesday field is approximately 3 acres in size, has grown barley and maize for 5 years and is now ready for some sustainable agronomy. After conversatons with the owners on how to proceed with caring for the soil and yet aim towards making a profit, it was decided to sow the field with a diverse herbal grazing ley from Cotwolds Seeds.
This deep rootng, species rich grazing ley has 18 different plants in the mix and is ideally suited to repairing damaged soil horizons whilst being nutritionally balanced for grazing animals.

Measuring out the seed. 39 kilos of seed was needed for the 3 acres whch was broadcast by hand. It definitely took longer than expected but the results are looking good.

There's a beautiful green glow covering the Tuesday field. It promises to provde some rich and nutritous grazing from next spring onwards for at least 5 years.
